Our ideal forum member uses proper spelling and grammar in their posts and signature. This includes proper punctuation, capitalization, and formatting (paragraphs). Our focus is to ensure that your thoughts and ideas are expressed in a manner that everyone on the boards can easily understand. We ask that every member tries his/her best in this area.

Our ideal forum member will ensure that any form of advertising is done in an appropriate manner.

Please note that trading WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. We are currently working on a E-bay style modification that will allow trades, but until then none will take place. We are NOT LMT!

Do not mini-mod. There are admins and moderators no the board for a reason. If you see something wrong in a post PLEASE report it by clicking on the located under the user's profile. We encourage reporting things, but please do not add your own criticism.

What is a V.I.P.

A VIP is a user that has done outstanding work for the forums. They have done so by contributing to the community, posting, helping out, designing, etc.. The methods are endless.

How do I Gain VIP

Never ask anyone to be a VIP. When we think the time is right, you will gain it. You can gain VIP by simply posting, being helpful, reporting posts, and just being an active member. There is no cap on how long until your VIP. It will be given at administrator’s discretion and could be given at 1 post or 1000 posts.

DO NOT post simple "Thanks" to gain your initial post count. All posts containing simple "Thank You", before you reach 10 posts, will be deleted and you will be PMed with the rules. If you do it multiple times, you will receive a warning. 5 warnings are a ban.

If you wish to thank a user, do not simply post a message saying "thanks" without having other content in your message as well. (Like questions or suggestions)

How Do I Thank Another User?

Please press the and the button on the lower left-hand corner of the post. This will add to their reputation without cluttering the forums & display a nice 'thank you' display in a secondary thread. This is the best way to give a user recognition for their efforts.

We would like to introduce you to an old feature that we are re-implementing. Behold, the great "Thank you" button. It is located at the bottom of the first post in the topic, next to the "Quote" button. As of right now, it looks like this:



but we are currently working on making a custom button that looks much prettier than that one.

So what does this mean for users?
It means that you should thank people using this button, and not by posting a simple thank you post. Filling a thread with useless "thank you!"'s makes things disorganized and difficult to navigate easily. It's actually easier for you guys, all you have to do is hit the button. The Staff will start cracking down on "thank you" posts, so if you see that your post was deleted with this reason, this is why. If you feel that your post was not a thank you post, but was deleted with that reason, feel free to PM who deleted it to ask for a reason.

The Academy:

What is it:
We are all artists. Every one of us tries to be a master of illusion. In order to cause the impossible to happen for our spectators, we have to have the right tools. The Academy is here to bring to you new tools to use to accomplish your magic goals. The Academy is a learning epicenter where artists can discuss freely their effects, ideas, and conjure up truly amazing things.

How do I access The Academy?:
To access the Academy, go to the forum main page. It will be a portion of the forum towards the bottom of the page. It will display once you have access. Click it, and all the tutorials and discussion we have for your Clearance Level will be displayed.

I can't see the Academy! How do I get promoted to view The Academy?:
As you progress and participate in the forums, you may gain additional clearance to more challenging and amazing magic. Promotions are not yet being offered, but soon, as our library of ExoMagician made tutorials grows, we will extend the opportunity to, by discussing your progress with a member of Staff, gain higher levels of clearance. The standard post count for level 1 clearance (basic access to The Academy) is 10 posts.

Clearance levels are as followed:
* Level One - 7 day registration & 10+ posts
* Level Two - 7 day registration & 70+ posts
* Level Three - 150 rep OR 150+ posts

Exposure & Gimmicks (drawing the line)

Topic title:
This should be relevant to the effect, and should have the effect name in the title. Please don't title your thread "OMG...", A good example is "Card Happening by Sanada" (Thanks iezama for the use of your thread title )

What can/can't I post? Where do you draw the line?
We know exactly where our stance is on copyrighted effects. We feel that as long as it is not exclusively published work it is alright. We will also allow the reference of specific sleights, such as top change or bottom palming. The explanations of such sleights, belong exclusively in The Academy, as long as they are not exclusively published.

*Addition* Posting YouTube videos of other people performing tutorials is against the board rules. You may post your own filmed tutorial of a public change/sleight but nothing that is copyright or published by a specific company.


Tutorials:
Again, we will not tolerate the exposure of creator specific gimmicks/exclusively published gimmicks. In other words: We won't tolerate exposure of "Sweetly Done" by Shane Black, however, tutorials on "How to make your own double backer" are alright with us.

Requests:
If you are posting a tutorial as to how to make a gimmick, try to make it as professional as possible. Please keep spelling mistakes to a minimum, and try to use proper grammar. No one wants to read a paragraph of text that has no punctuations.

If available, the sub-forum may have special rules that must be followed. These rules vary from forum to forum, so please ensure you properly read and digest these. They are stickied and located at the top of every forum (when available).

• Donator : 9

To use the HIDE post function follow these simple steps:

* Highlight the desired text to be hidden
* Click on the small HIDE button towards the top of the editor. Once the popup comes up, enter the amount of posts you want the users to have before they are able to view the content hidden. Please refer to Figure 1

To use the HIDE post function to limit a specific user-group to view follow these steps:

*Highlight the desired text to be hidden
* Click on the small "STG" button towards the top of the editor. Once the popup comes up, enter the usergroup ID (numbers at the top of this post) of the persons you want in that particular usergroup to view. Figure 2

Note: You can set multiple usergroups by separating them with a "," (without the quotes). For example when the box appears, enter "6,10". This will only allow the administrators and VIPs to view that item hidden.
